Environmental Science

Major department advisors answered a few questions to assist you with your first-semester class selection.

General Information

What are some of the highlights and features to know about this major? Only that (a) General Chemistry will probably also satisfy the chemistry requirement, and [b] an intro biology class that focuses on communities/ecology/species [not cellular or human] will satisfy the biology class requirement.
When should I first meet with my major department? For sorting out challenges for the first semester, either before the semester starts or during the first few days, students should come by in the second month for a good advising session on the program.
How will I be assigned to a major advisor and how do I contact them? No assignment, but advisors are listed on the department web site.
Where can I find information about major advising? http://geog.sfsu.edu/
Does this major require any pre-work from me before I attend orientation or register for classes? No.
What should I do if my major core and/or prequisite courses are full? There should be sufficient seats and alternatives.  The department can be contacted to let us know of problems.
